Dave & Erica: A Lancaster Wedding

Dave and Erica were married in a small, intimate ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA on June 10th.

Dave and I used to work together an age or two ago and I was excited when he asked me to photograph his wedding.

I was even more excited when he revealed that the reception would be held on a separate day from the ceremony which meant that I would have extra time after the ceremony to photograph the newly married couple, one-on-one.

Between Erica and Dave's engaging and fun chemistry and the small window of sunshine/clouds in an otherwise rainy day, their photos were a huge success! You can check them out below!

Kirk's Debut Photo Shoot

IMG_9902.jpg

Meet Kirk. He's tiny, loud, funny and only two months new to the world.

He's also pretty cute. His mom gave me a heads up that he was a little fussy the morning of the shoot, but like a summer storm, there are always beautiful moments and photo opportunities before and after the rain hits.

Kirk did not disappoint. He laughed, he cried, he smiled, he fell asleep, he made unreasonable demands and then he did it all again. While that may sound a little stressful, we structured the shoot with plenty of time for Kirk to cycle through his different moods while getting some great candid shots of his parents cuddling and soothing him.

The next part of the shoot was at Brandon Park. We were lucky to have a beautiful, warm, summer-like day to be outside. Kirk, already an outdoors man, was properly equipped with his pacifier and blanket, but a little put-off that he forgot his shoes.

Despite that, we all had a fun day with some great pics to show for it! But as always, you don't have to take my word for it, see some for yourself below!

Emily and Darren's Wedding

Emily and Darren were married in February, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. February in Pennsylvania, of course, is known to be mild and gentle with lots of sunny days and spring-like temperatures...

Umm, no. I had you going there, right? February in Pennsylvania is usually a brutal test of will and fortitude with bitter cold temperatures and white-knuckle commutes.

Now as a wedding photographer, I start compulsively checking the weather forcast  about ten days out from a wedding. While good weather on the wedding day feels like a blessing, good weather on a wedding day in February feels like a gift from the Gods, which is exactly what we got on February 18th!

It was sunny and in the high 40's and just warm enough to be outside. Emily and Darren made a striking couple and were excited to use the Franklin & Marshall campus as the backdrop for their wedding photos. We started with their first look in front of the Ann & Richard Barshinger Life Sciences & Philosophy Building; an elegant, grand building with tall graceful columns that echoed the momentousness of the first time they would see each other on their wedding day.

Our next stop was the Sponaugle-Williamson Field, where they went on their first date together. We also took photos in front of Old Main, the Green Room Theatre, and Lancaster Theological Seminary which created the perfect backdrop for some more romantic photos.

They were married in an intimate ceremony with close family and friends at the Gypsy Kitchen at 4:30 pm. The officiant was Lancaster Mayor, Danene Sorace and musical accompaniment was provided by Scott Parmer. Emily, her family, and the Gypsy Kitchen staff did a beautiful job decorating the space with long white tables layered with greens and flowers and candles to create a whimsical and dreamy setting for their reception and all of their guests.

But don't just take my word for it, check out the photos in their gallery below! Congratulations again to the happy couple!

Missy and Paul Winter Maternity Shoot

Missy and Paul scheduled their maternity photo shoot with me on New Year's weekend. Honestly, I was hoping for some snow on the ground to make a winter photo shoot a little less dreary and a lot more dreamy. Boy, did I get my wish and then some.

On New Year's weekend, we received a couple inches of snow and a blast of Arctic air that made even the thought of going outside painful. But we couldn't let the snow go to waste, after all, winter wonderland photo shoots are too rare and beautiful to pass up.

Thus was my argument to Missy and Paul when the forecast included a near-zero degree windchill. I orchestrated the shoot to make them as comfortable as possible by having them wear their coats and winter gear, keeping the car running and heated nearby, and working quickly and efficiently with my shot list to make sure we kept the shoot to under an hour.

All in all, we had a great time and made it something of an adventure complete with treats and libations afterwards! Check out some of their photos below and keep warm out there :)

Stephanie and Todd's Wedding

I have known Stephanie for a couple of years now and have done several photos shoots with her. So when she asked me to photograph her wedding, I was really excited!

Stephanie and Todd were married on a beautiful fall day in October. Their wedding was small and intimate, and limited to family and close friends.

The service was held in the late morning at the elegant Willow Valley Chapel at the Doubletree Resort followed with a luncheon in the Terrace Room and a special performance by Scott Parmer. Stephanie looked gorgeous in tea-length wedding dress and vintage accessories including a birdcage veil, pearls, and gloves. Her make-up and hair were done to perfection by Jacqueline Malocu.

Todd and Stephanie are both musicians and avid readers and they infused many of these personal details into their wedding and lovely reception. I wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter together!

You can see some of the photos from their beautiful day below. Enjoy!
